Supercharging Our Workspace…

Even before the thought of starting my own blog entered my mind, I already had a vision of what my dream workspace would look like. I’m not imagining anything grand. In fact, even a tiny functioning workspace in the corner of our dining room would make me very happy. What’s important is I have my own physical space to work on to keep me on top of all the household’s financial, medical and educational documents. You won’t believe the staggering amount of paperwork my kids bring home from school. It can be overwhelming.

For two years, I’ve been sharing a workspace with my two older kids in our living room. The set-up worked very well for us because I could conveniently help them with their homework and lessons and at the same time monitor their online activities. However, it was getting more difficult for us to work and do our thing as our whirlwind of a toddler was getting more curious and creative with his antics. As the little one learns new skills, he’s also becoming more energetic, needing more space to play and explore. With this in mind, we decided to move the kids’ study spaces in their own bedrooms and created a corner for me in my husband’s office.  So last winter,  we said goodbye to our small dining table set we called our work table.

However, it wasn’t only about having our own workspace. It was also about having an organized and functioning space that will help us get things done. To tell you the truth, I can’t stand clutter. I mean, it’s ok to see a little tangle and muddle here and there while working but they better be sure they clean up after their mess or else..… Oftentimes, it takes a few threatening, blackmailing and terrorizing to get them on their feet. But hey! I’m a mom, I get free pass for that.

So we started canvassing online for affordable, durable and nice looking pieces. And of course ended up getting most of our stuff from Ikea, a.k.a my Disneyland! Moreover, working around the pieces we already have definitely helped kept the cost down. And to make it even more exciting (and economical), our daughter’s new workspace was her birthday gift!😁 I know that’s not exactly what she wanted but it wasn’t a bad idea at all. It was kinda like  “killing two birds with one stone”!😁 I also have to mention that, I’m pretty fortunate to have a handyman of a son who put all the furniture together! 😁

So here’s a peek of what our workspaces look like. I hope this will inspire you to create your own dedicated and organized workspace at home that will allow you and the entire family to work more efficiently and be more productive. Enjoy! 😉

    • I’m glad you liked the set-up, Jolene. It can be pretty challenging keeping it the way it is with a toddler in the house but we’re getting by. 🙂 Good luck on your blog! 🙂

  2. Love this! My blogging workspace is currently the dining table!! However I have 2 inspiring visual cues that are fixtures that keep me going when I write. And that is what makes my space my favourite spot to work 🙂

  3. I like how you organized things.
After setting my home office I noticed how productivity went up. For our 5yo daughter setting a work desk also resulted with more time spent drawing and creating.
